Many exciting motorcycles are expected to come onto the market in 2025. These include motorcycles with minor updates (like the Yamaha R1 2025) and some completely new generation models (like the successor to the Ducati Panigale V2). Among them is a US-built Hooligan cruiser whose performance figures are sure to amaze you.

This all-new American muscle cruiser is more powerful than an MV Agusta F3 sportbike, weighs less than 500 pounds and revs to an insane 11,000 rpm. Not to mention that it was built in collaboration with one of the most renowned custom bike manufacturers: Roland Sands. Good introduction? Now let’s dive deeper.

This is the most powerful American V-twin cruiser

After the “sporty” Harley-Davidson V-Rod and Night Rod models, there was no true all-American cruiser focused solely on performance. But in 2025 that will change, because there will be a new addition: the Buell Super Cruiser. It is the most awaited cruiser motorcycle simply because it promises unmatched performance and riding pleasure.

A high-revving 11,000 rpm V-twin is at the heart, surrounded by lightweight materials and track-ready hardware. Yes, Buell has certainly tested our patience since the Super Cruiser concept broke cover in early 2023. But we’re finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, with the promised launch of America’s most powerful V-twin cruiser in 2025.

Buell Super Cruiser Specifications

The Buell Super Cruiser 2025 is a disguised sports motorcycle

The Super Cruiser’s 1,190cc V-twin engine is the same as that of the Buell 1190 SX. In other words, it’s a sports bike with comfortable seats and minimal bodywork. From the engine to the airbox to the electronics, everything is shared. Even the rear wheel comes directly from the 1190 SX. Because of all these common components, the Super Cruiser is an invention that no one expected.

It’s lightweight (thanks to minimal bodywork and the use of carbon fiber). It’s comfortable with a relaxed yet sporty rider triangle. And most importantly, it produces 175 horsepower and 102 pound-feet of torque. That’s more performance flex than many wealthy super athletes out there!

First-class hardware underlines the sporty character of this power cruiser

Roland Sands Design is involved in the development of the Super Cruiser framework

Roland Sands played a crucial role in shaping the underpinnings of this muscle cruiser. The minimalist chromoly steel chassis features an aggressive design for added rigidity. The fuel tank and fenders are made from lightweight sheet metal to keep weight under control. And the cooler is made of aluminum. In this way, the 2025 Buell Super Cruiser manages to weigh an impressive 450 pounds – about the same weight as the 197-horsepower 2025 Yamaha R1.

The Super Cruiser’s suspension and braking hardware is actually track specification, sharing parts with that of a sports motorcycle. While the concept and most flagship Super Cruiser models featured Öhlins suspension, Buell Motorcycles recently confirmed that production models will replace this with custom FOX suspension. The latest production spec renderings (see above) also show Buell sadly ditching the gorgeous looking perimeter rotors in favor of a more traditional floating disc setup. The SC Project exhaust featured in the concept has also disappeared.

The footrests are set back slightly for a sporty yet upright posture. The mono seat, on the other hand, has been shaped to provide additional back support as the rider needs it to prevent falling out of the saddle of this roll-eating cruiser. We’re still in the dark on the technology front, but it’s been confirmed that the instrument cluster is the same TFT display as the 1190 SX Streetfighter.

2025 Buell Super Cruiser: Price and Availability

Pre-orderers can secure a special introductory price of $23,900

Pre-orders are currently underway, and Buell says customers who secured a spot at the pre-order price of $50 are lining up to get their hands on the Super Cruiser at the introductory price as quickly as possible. But this list is already ready and you should focus more on the standard price, which starts at $25,900. That’s a big number. But given the aggressive muscle that Buell offers, the tag is well worth it. Production and deliveries of the Buell Super Cruiser are expected to begin in fall 2025.

2025 Buell Super Cruiser vs Rivals

No shortage of American or European rivals

You know the Buell Super Cruiser has a lot to offer when its arch rivals include an exotic Ducati and a hideous Triumph. Buell’s intention to create the wildest American cruiser is clearly evident here. The most powerful competitor is the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm, which is only slightly more powerful despite an additional cylinder and around 1,400 cc more displacement.

However, the largest three-cylinder motorcycle engine outperforms the Super Cruiser in terms of torque figures. On the other hand, the Buell has an insane power-to-weight ratio, while the Triumph is almost 250 pounds heavier. What we mean to say is that it will be very interesting to see a drag race between Buell Super Cruiser and Triumph Rocket 3 Storm.

Next up is the beautiful Ducati Diavel V4, which is more expensive but less powerful than the Buell. Like the Buell, the Ducati is powered by a sports motorcycle and has a commendable power-to-weight ratio. However, it falls behind thanks to the performance advantage of the US-made offering.

Since we are an American cruiser, we also wanted to compare the Super Cruiser with motorcycles from Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle. But even the most powerful cruisers in the group were significantly underpowered. Despite its sophisticated and modern liquid-cooled V-twin, the most powerful Harley-Davidson cruiser only produces 120 hp and weighs much more than the Buell.

The most powerful Indian cruiser is now the 101 Scout. It produces 111 hp. But we didn’t compare the Buell to the sporty Scout. Instead, we believe the Indian FTR is a more worthy competitor to the Super Cruiser as it offers a similar approach to raw V-twin power and sophisticated ergonomics. The dimensions also tend to match. Despite the similarities, the Indian is still underpowered and heavy.
