Stephen Curry (finger) will sit out the Warriors’ preseason finale

SAN FRANCISCO – Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will miss the team’s preseason finale Friday with a sprained right index finger.

Curry injured his finger during practice on Thursday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kerr said he doesn’t believe the injury is too serious and expects Curry to be available for Wednesday’s opening night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Curry originally injured his finger while getting caught in a jersey against the Sacramento Kings last Friday, and Curry was ruled out of the next game. On Tuesday, Curry said he was still feeling unwell but would play against the Lakers later that evening.

Curry had a bandage on his finger but ripped it off midway through the third quarter.

Kerr originally wanted Friday’s preseason game to be a dress rehearsal for opening night. But with Curry unavailable, Kerr said he plans to tinker more with his lineups and rotations as he continues to try to find his starting five.

Meanwhile, Lakers coach JJ Redick said he was resting all of his starters – LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell – against Golden State.

Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht, who had a spectacular 35-point performance on Thursday, is also sidelined after colliding with a Phoenix Suns player during the overtime win.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin contributed to this report.
