Years After Dominating The NBA, Shaquille O’Neal Is Dunked By Kid, Calls It ‘Sad Day’

For two decades, Shaquille O’Neal has terrorized NBA fans with his thunderous dunk. From breaking the boards against the New Jersey Nets in 1993 to famously collapsing the entire support system in Phoenix, Shaq has come to call himself the “most dominant player.” But now, in a miraculous twist of basketball fate, the hunter has become the hunted.

In a seemingly playful Reebok event, the six-foot-tall man behind the Dunkman logo was defeated by a child. Shaq took to his Instagram to share the humiliating moment with an incredibly dramatic caption. “Today is a sad day when I finally know whyyyyyyyyyyyy,“O’Neal wrote in the caption of the post.

Given O’Neal’s history of dominating players on the team, this is obviously a role reversal for him.

In his prime, Shaq’s dunks weren’t just points, they were statements. His most memorable slam came in 1999 when he ran over Chris Dudley so hard that the former NY Knicks center stumbled backwards and fell. The dunk became so iconic that it still regularly appears on NBA highlight reels.

Do you know why I did that? Because I thought it was disrespectful that they didn’t double me. When you look, the first thing I do is look back and say, “Oh, really?”“O’Neal said to JJ Reddick, the current coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Additionally, the 4x champion previously revealed that he has only ever been dunked by three players – Derrick Coleman, Michael Jordan and Tim Perry. But they all came during Shaq’s early years with the Orlando Magic. So we know that he increasingly avoided them. Until a teenager beat him in a major bet over a decade later.

Back in March, the 2.10 meter tall man shared a video on his Instagram in which he was dunked by a 2.15 meter tall Nigerian basketball sensation.

In the video, Shaq made a bold claim. “Yo, this is Shaq. Anyone who can get involved with me, I’ll give them a million dollars in cash,Shaq said. Moments later, a seven-foot-tall man in a yellow tracksuit came from behind and pounced on him with ease. The seven foot tall man was none other than Abiodun Adegoke. Unlike traditional big men who rely on leaping for their dunks, Adegoke’s size allowed him to simply extend his arms and throw the ball through the basket.

Adegoke (aka Big Naija) honed his skills at Segun Odegbami International College and Sports Academy in Wasinmi, Nigeria and later played in the MPAC Elite Youth League in Dubai. Although it remained a mystery whether Adegoke ever got his million dollars, he was one of the few to cause trouble for the icon “I always wanted to be proud of not being hidden.”
