Dolphins RB De’Von Achane clears concussion protocol, hopes to play against Colts

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Dolphins running back De’Von Achane said he passed concussion protocol on Friday and hopes to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Achane suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Miam’s Week 5 game against New England after Jaylinn Hawkins suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit. The second-year running back said he hasn’t had any symptoms for a few days after the hit.

“I felt good, felt great and felt normal again,” Achane said.

Achane has 183 rushing yards on 53 carries with a rushing touchdown and has seen an increasing role in the passing game with 21 catches on 23 targets and 186 yards receiving.

As a rookie in 2023, he averaged 7.8 yards per carry with 800 receiving yards.

The Dolphins should have a healthy running back room for the first time since Week 1 with Achane, rookie Jaylen Wright and veteran Raheem Mostert, who missed three games with a pectoral injury.

“That means a defense can’t just kill one of us because … we’re all healthy now,” Achane said. “So each of us can go in, make plays and do what’s best for the team.”
