GLVC preseason poll released ahead of first NCAA contest

INDIANAPOLIS – On the eve of their first NCAA competition, the University of Indianapolis women’s bowling team was ranked seventh in the GLVC preseason poll released on Friday, October 18. The program received 13 points in the poll in its first year of competition, while Maryville topped the conference with 48 points and 6 first-place finishes.

This press release comes just one day before the Greyhounds’ first NCAA Tournament of the year as they prepare to travel to Rockford, Illinois to compete in the Warhawk Classic at the Cherry Bowl. The event begins Saturday, October 19, with each bowler playing five traditional games against Carthage, Aurora, Carrol and Wisconsin Whitewater. The Hounds will play five Baker games on Sunday, playing five Baker games per game. Their Sunday games are against Elmhurst, Maryland Eastern Shore, Marion (Wis.) and Ursuline.

The Hounds had an encouraging performance at the Western Shootout last week, where they placed 14th out of 23 teams in the program’s first varsity competition. They finished with a total pinfall of 8,152, 2,948 of which came in the Baker format.
