The first day of early voting in Knox County nearly doubled voter turnout in 2020

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Day one data from Knox County’s early voting period appears to indicate voter turnout could increase significantly in the 2024 general election compared to the 2020 presidential election.

The Knox County Election Commission released first-day numbers Thursday and said 13,039 people voted. Compared to 2020, county records show only 8,112 people attended the polls on the first day.

While the difference isn’t quite as big, this year’s second day of voting also surpassed 2020: 11,369 voters went to the polls on Thursday, compared to 9,074 on the second day of early voting in 2020.
