Round 2 of the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas was postponed due to windy weather

The sharp change in weather delayed Friday’s Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas.

The PGA TOUR announced that the second round is now scheduled to begin at 10:55 a.m., a total delay of four hours.

“Friday morning’s delay at the Shriners Children’s Open is due to the extremely strong winds we are experiencing in Las Vegas,” head judge Stephen Cox said in a statement. “For the safety of emergency personnel, tournament volunteers, spectators, and our athletes and caddies, we have extended the delay while we continue to monitor the situation.”

The first round must also be resumed after it was interrupted on Thursday due to darkness. Practice facilities also had to be closed.

Taylor Pendrith currently has a -10 lead despite being on the 18th hole when play was stopped. Ten other players are in second place with -7.
