Crime Stoppers’ Chili Feed fundraiser will be held Friday at Washburn University

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Shawnee County Crime Stoppers will hold its annual “Chili Battle” fundraiser on Friday at Washburn University.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lee Arena, near SW 19th and Washburn Avenue.

Organizers said the event offered community members an opportunity to support Crime Stoppers’ mission to “keep our community safe through anonymous tips.”

Tickets are $8 and are good for unlimited tastings of chilis made by local law enforcement and board members. Cinnamon rolls will also be available and visitors will have the opportunity to enter raffles.

Tickets are $12 at the door and $8 with a student ID. Advance tickets are available online for $11 by visiting the Crime Stoppers Facebook page at facebook.com/ShawneeCountyCrimeStoppers.

Crime Stoppers allows community members to participate in solving crimes by anonymously reporting case information.

Although it is not a law enforcement agency, officials say Crime Stoppers acts as an intermediary and “facilitates the anonymous submission of important information to help solve crimes.”
