Joni Mitchell reaches a chart position for the first time in more than half a century of her career

Joni Mitchell hasn’t released a new album of original material in more than 17 years and may never do so again. However, the singer-songwriter is still active as she performs from time to time and regularly releases compilations, live collections and other retrospective projects that highlight her incredible talent and the many amazing compositions she has worked on over the decades .

One of these efforts Archive – Vol. 4debuts on three UK charts this week. Fans of the musician bought the track in large numbers, which ensured that it became an instant win with multiple hits.

Archive – Vol. 4 brings Mitchell back to a handful of hits in the country she previously landed in, adding to her growing list of commercial successes in the UK. The archive release also helps her land on a different ranking – one she has never reached before.

The throwback collection of songs from Mitchell’s previous debuts lands at the top of the Official Americana List, coming in at number 6. This list ranks the country’s most successful projects that can be classified as Americana in terms of genre. Archive – Vol. 4 marks the Grammy winner’s first placement on the list.

Archive – Vol. 4 is also a Top 40 hit in the other two rankings in which it appears for the first time this week. Mitchell’s latest album debuts at No. 35 on the Official Physical Albums chart and No. 38 on the Official Album Sales chart.

Mitchell has spent the last few years releasing and re-releasing older material in a variety of new configurations, which always seems to interest her huge fanbase. Your archive series – which continues with Archive – Vol. 4– started in the summer of 2021 and has evolved fairly steadily.

The 98-song collection was released on Friday, October 4th.
