‘Justice’ guide to the Netflix film’s cast and characters

While Netflix’s latest Polish thriller, Justice, may lack narrative complexity in its straightforward storytelling, it certainly doesn’t lack an interesting cast of characters. While one can argue that the lead investigator duo are victims of trope characterization, the remaining core cast, especially those who are considered people of interest, are more than mere characters representing various aspects of Poland’s social situation in the 1990s. The film does not aim to build suspense or arouse curiosity as to the causality of the crime; Rather, it offers multiple perspectives through the interactions between the characters while adapting to a slow narrative progression. If the makers had wanted, they could have gone for a more politically motivated approach, the potential of which is clearly evident throughout the script, and the characters could have served as perfect vessels for it.
