AAP chief Satyendar Jain gets bail after two years in money laundering case | Latest News India

Satyendar Jain was arrested by the law enforcement agency on May 30, 2022 on money laundering charges

A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was arrested by the law enforcement agency on May 30, 2022 on money laundering charges against four companies allegedly linked to him.

“Considering the delay in the trial and the long incarceration of 18 months and the fact that the trial will take a long time to begin let alone complete, the accused is well suited for exoneration,” PTI quoted special judge Vishal Gogne as saying .

According to a PTI report, the judge granted bail relief ₹50,000 with two sureties of equal amount. The ED case stems from an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Jain in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Top AAP leaders out on bail

All senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party who were jailed on corruption charges are out on bail. Last month, party leader Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a CBI case related to the alleged liquor scam.

Manish Sisodia, Delhi’s former deputy chief minister, was granted bail by the Supreme Court in August after spending 17 months in Tihar Jail in cases related to the Delhi excise policy case.

In April this year, the Supreme Court had granted bail to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh after ED expressed no objection to his plea in the Delhi excise policy case.
