SOTD 10/18/24: In The Mood by tomotoband (live version)

In Southwest Florida, we are blessed with so many popular venues for indie musicians. Skipper’s Smokehouse, Fogartyville, Floridan Social, Crowbar and many more. So it’s no surprise that our current band decided to come to the Tampa Bay area to record their second live album

The WMNF song of the day for October 18, 2024 is “In the Mood” by the tomatoband from Charleston, SC. It was recorded exactly five years ago today at the Dunedin Brewery.

The tomato ribbon The experiment began in the fall of 2010. Lifelong friends Charlie Mitchell, guitar, and Alex Irwin, keyboards, began writing strange music and performing it around town as a duo. Some catchy melodies merged into strange improvisations and the form was born. Since then, they have added bass and drums and released three studio albums and two live albums that would loosely be described as jam band music.
