Preview how to watch Spurs vs Rockets

As the San Antonio Spurs prepare for their regular season opener next Thursday, they’ll get one final refresher on the road against the Houston Rockets.

Both teams will face each other twice more in the first three games of the regular season, so there will be little to no action on Thursday night, especially with a host of Spurs sidelined. However, it will be a chance for San Antonio to evaluate some of its fringe players one last time.

The Rockets are mostly healthy, with the exception of Jock Landale, who coach Ime Udoka said “took a few hits” throughout training camp. That may explain the big gap, as Houston is nine points ahead of victory at home.

The Spurs are looking to bounce back from a road loss at Miami after suffering 21 turnovers, while the Rockets hope to pick up a third straight win to advance to the regular season.

However, here’s what you need to know ahead of Spurs’ final pre-season game:

Houston Rockets

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio’s biggest woe against the Heat was the presents.

The Spurs turned the ball over 21 times, ultimately resulting in a three-point decision, so a win is certainly possible. That will certainly be the mindset going into the final preseason game of the season as they look to limit careless mistakes.

After missing every other preseason contest, David Duke Jr. returns to the floor for one game before the regular season, while players like Riley Minix, Malachi Flynn and Brandon Boston Jr. will vie for a final two-way spot to hopefully stay there for the coming season.

It will be crucial for the Spurs to see these players out once again as they begin to solidify their 18-man regular season roster, making the final result trivial once again.

However, it’s always nice to end on a good note.
