The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show features the first transgender models in an iconic show

NEW YORK (Gray News) – At the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday, the first transgender women took the stage at the iconic show.

Models Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani made history when they walked the runway with their fellow Victoria’s Secret models.

Sampaio shared a video from that evening in black lingerie, which garnered thousands of loving reactions from her fans.

“The Victoria’s Secret family showed the world that transgender life is just as extraordinary and beautiful as anyone else on the runway,” the Brazilian model shared. “Inclusivity is critical to the world we are building, and it is an honor to walk this path with pride, love and the hope of inspiring the next generation.”

People reports that in 2019, Sampaio also became the first trans model to be featured in an advertising campaign with Victoria’s Secret. The following year, she made history by becoming the first out trans person to model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Originally from California, Consani has a huge following on social media, including more than 3.4 million TikTok followers.

She has attended shows for several designers including Chloe and Burberry.

Consani took to social media to share that she wore a satin outfit with gray underwear and square wings from Tuesday’s event.

“Little me is screaming, I can’t even say anything other than thank you,” she wrote in her post.

NBC News reports that this year’s show also featured some of the most famous models from previous Victoria’s Secret fashion shows, such as Adriana Lima and Tyra Banks, as well as an appearance by Cher.
