Children watch a drag queen movie at Tulsa Union School

Students in a theater class at Union High School in Tulsa spent their final days before fall break watching a movie that starred a drag queen, according to one report from Tulsa ABC affiliate news station KTUL.

Catherine Davis, whose 15-year-old was among the students, said the movie “Kinky Boots” was inappropriate.

“I did not sign a consent form for this video,” Davis told KTUL. “We were not informed that this video was being shown and were given no opportunity to opt out.”

Davis signed a consent form at the start of the school year acknowledging that her child could be exposed to materials of a “more advanced nature,” but added a note that said, “As long as no rape, incest and LGBTQIA material.” is taught.” ”

The plot of “Kinky Boots” revolves around efforts to save a shoe company by catering to drag queen performers who want to purchase fetish boots.

Davis noted to KTUL that the men in the film “wore not just dresses, but lingerie and heels.”

A review of the film explained that it “takes a familiar narrative and transforms it into something extraordinarily strange.”

Another review of “Kinky Boots” specified that the shoe factory employees are forced to “adapt” throughout history.

“After decades of quiet pride, they must make shoes the equivalent of porn,” the review reads.

Another review noted that the film’s lead drag queen character “dresses stunningly as she sings songs like ‘I Want to Be Evil’ in a powerful, masculine voice,” and explained that the actor “amps up and vamps the inventions attractively.”

Another review described the drag queen main character as “spreading gender diversity like sequin butter among the factory workers.”

KTUL reported that union school officials declined to comment.
