Georgia football’s first injury report released

Georgia football’s showdown against No. 1 Texas is getting closer and closer, and the closer Saturday gets, the more nervous I get. Can Georgia beat the Longhorns? Can UGA tell the country that they are true national title contenders?

These and other questions will be answered in a few days. But while we wait for Saturday, we need to find out some important details about the game.

And one of those things is Georgia’s injury report, which Kirby Smart just released late Wednesday.

Two of the biggest updates on this injury report are the upgrades of Jordan Hall and Jared Wilson to probable. Both were listed as questionable before the Mississippi State game last week, so seeing both upgraded to probable before Georgia’s biggest game of the year is huge.

Similarly, right guard Tate Ratledge was upgraded from out to questionable. There’s no denying the importance of getting Ratledge back for this game. So if he’s anywhere near healthy enough to play, Smart will certainly give him the green light to do so.

You will also see that the running back room, and especially its depth, is a major problem for Georgia. Having two guys in a room as small as running back rooms is not a good sign. The Bulldogs still have plenty of depth at the position for now, but another injury would be very bad news for Georgia’s offense.

Georgia and Texas will be the highlights of Saturday’s games as they have the ABC primetime slot. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST with coverage beginning at 9 a.m. on College GameDay.

Hopefully all players on the injury report continue to progress throughout the week, giving UGA the best possible chance of pulling off the upset against the Longhorns.
