The United States has a broken immigration system that needs to be fixed, Vice President Kamala Harris said in an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier.

Baier repeatedly pressed the Democratic presidential nominee on illegal immigration, taxpayer support for gender reassignment surgeries and other areas that closely align with former President Donald Trump’s regular attacks against her.

When asked how many undocumented immigrants entered the U.S. illegally under the Biden-Harris administration. Harris did not give a number.

Harris responded: “Bret, let’s just get to the point, OK? The point is we have a broken immigration system that needs to be fixed.”

“So your secretary of homeland security said that 85 percent of the arrests are made,” Baier interjected. “I’m not finished yet. We have an immigration system,” Harris tried to continue her answer.

“Early in our term, virtually within hours of taking the oath, the first bill, virtually within hours of taking the oath, was legislation to improve our immigration system,” Harris said, with Baier interjecting in between.

“We recognized from day one that this is your first question. It is a priority for us as a nation and for the American people. Our focus was on solving a problem. So from day one we’ve done a number of things.” That includes addressing our asylum system and providing more resources, getting more judges, what we need to do to toughen penalties and increase penalties for illegal border crossings, and what we need to do to deal with entry points between borders and entry points,” she said.
