Haikyu!! The film “The Dumpster Battle” will be released on Netflix on October 31st

HAIKYU: The Dumpster Battle The film will be released on Netflix in select territories in Asia on October 31st. The film had one of the biggest opening weekends in Japan after premiering on February 16th, with a Blu-ray and DVD release also announced for October 30th. Netflix released a trailer on the official X account, where you can also watch the YouTube upload (regionally limited).

This is the first of two final films for Haikyu!! Franchise. It covers the 3rd Round National Match between Karasuno High and Nekoma High in the long-awaited “Dumpster Battle”. Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama lead Karasuno, while Kenma Kozume and Tetsuro Kuroo pose the biggest challenge on the other side. The showdown highlights more members of each team and makes for an exciting game.

Haruichi Furudate wrote and drew the original Haikyu!! Manga that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. It ended with 405 chapters compiled into 45 volumes. Viz Media has licensed the manga in English.

Production IG was responsible for the animation of both the film and the TV anime. The first season aired in 2014, followed by the second, which began in fall 2015 and ended in winter 2016. Season 3 ran for 10 episodes in fall 2016 and covered the Karasuno vs. Shiratorizawa game. Season 4 was titled Haikyuu!! Upand it ran for 25 episodes over two routes – Winter 2020 and Fall 2020. In addition to the TV anime and the current film, the franchise also includes several recap films, OVAs, side stories, stage plays and games.
