Fourth seed Jonatan Christie was stunned in his second-round exit by Lu Guangzu

Badminton world number three Jonathan Christie saw his BWF Denmark Open 2024 The season ended on Thursday (October 17) with a defeat in the second round.

Christie lost to Lu Guangzu of the People’s Republic of China in an hour-long three-set men’s singles encounter, which his Chinese opponent won 21-18 in Lu’s favor after a close final set.

The number four seeded Indonesian had to come from behind after narrowly losing the first set 19:21, fought his way back into the game with a dominant performance in the second set and only conceded eight points (21:8).

Although Christie kept the score close in the decider of a game in which he had to struggle to find a way forward, Lu found the gaps and exploited them again and again, including decisively when the score was 18:18 when he scored three points in a row won the victory.

Lu will face Watanabe Koki in the quarterfinals on Friday (October 18) after the Japanese defeated Kunlavut Vitidsarn in straight sets.
