Newcomers Southampton and Leicester meet at St Mary’s on Saturday in what already looks like a huge game for both.

WATCH SOUTHAMPTON vs LEICESTER LIVE

The Saints are one of the few teams yet to win in the Premier League this season as Russell Martin’s possession-based side have shown promise but have just one point from their opening seven games. They led Arsenal before the break but succumbed to intense pressure late on to lose and that sums up Saints’ return to the Premier League so far: brave but fragile.

Before the break, Leicester picked up their first win of the big season won 1-0 against Bournemouth as Steve Cooper breathed a sigh of relief. The new Foxes coach has been under pressure due to his uninspiring style of play, but Leicester have looked solid enough defensively without being too threatening in attack and have six points to their name so far this season.

Southampton focus, team news

The Saints only have one injury risk in Kamaldeen Sulemana and have a huge squad to choose from with Will Smallbone back in training and Jack Stephens returning from suspension. Russell Martin has tried so many combinations in midfield and attack to get his team firing, but they have only scored four goals this season, which is the lowest in the Premier League. Tyler Dibling, just 18 years old, is their best hope in attack, while goaltender Aaron Ramsdale has played well but desperately needs a shutout to jump-start his Saints career.

Leicester focus, team news

Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk remain out, while Jannik Vestergaard is expected to be back in the game against his former club. Leicester continue to field Jamie Vardy up front, while Wilfred Ndidi is their main creative focal point in midfield. On-loan signing Facundo Buonanotte scored the winner against Bournemouth last time out and was on international duty with Argentina, while wingers Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu have both been dangerous so far and had fun against the Saints in the Championship last season. Leicester will look to sit deep and hit the Saints on the counter-attack.

Southampton vs Leicester prediction

There is a drawing written all over it. Both teams know how important this is and the Saints will dominate possession but struggle to beat Leicester and the Foxes will be difficult on the counter-attack. Southampton 1-1 Leicester.
