What is brewing in the Atlantic?

While tropical activity in the Atlantic typically tends to subside by October, impactful systems can and do occur during the final two months of hurricane season.

Malfunction 1 – Invest 94L

The NHC is monitoring a tropical wave called Invest 94L located over the central tropical Atlantic. This wave is currently producing disorganized showers and storms and is expected to move westward into slightly more favorable environmental conditions. This could potentially become a tropical depression later this week as it approaches the Leeward Islands.

Forecast models keep Invest 94-L on a westward course, approaching the Caribbean later this week.

Forecast models address this potential development closer to the Caribbean. Here’s what the GFS model (American) predicts later this week. Remember, this is a deterministic model and is subject to change.

Disturbance 2 – Western Caribbean

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring another area in the western Caribbean. Some development is possible if it remains afloat later this week. It looks like it will mostly affect Central America.

The Climate Prediction Center has released its 2- and 3-week tropical forecasts for the Atlantic and Pacific, and there is currently low confidence in any tropical formation. But know that the weather is constantly changing, and we’re here to bring you the latest on what’s brewing in the tropics.

Hurricane season officially ends on Saturday, November 30th, meaning there are only 47 days until hurricane season ends.
