Vote now for the Daily Reporter Football Player of the Week

BRANCH COUNTY – We’re seven weeks into the high school football season and the teams aren’t slowing down one bit.

This week we have 11 different players from all five teams in Branch County, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, to vote in this week’s Daily Reporter Football Player of the Week poll.

Voting begins on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and lasts until Thursday at 6 p.m. This is the poll where you can vote as often and as often as you like. So vote now and often for The Daily Reporter Football Player of the Week.

Brendan LaBar, Union City Charger football – LaBar led Union City’s rushing attack against Springport with 14 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Dracyn Foster, Coldwater Cardinal Soccer Foster led the Cardinals on offense, finishing the game 11-for-23 for 147 yards passing with a touchdown, while adding five rushes for 8 yards and a score.

Eli Payne, Union City Charger Football Payne finished the day completing 6 of 9 passes for 104 yards while adding five runs for 43 yards and two touchdowns, including runs of 2 yards and 1 yard.

Jace Hoard, Bronson Viking Football This is Hoard’s second week in Football Player of the Week voting, and it’s well-deserved. Hoard was Bronson’s leading rusher with 10 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown against Quincy. Hoard also led the Bronson defense, recording 9 tackles and three sacks.

Jackson Reilly, Coldwater Cardinal Football– Reilly had a HUGE game on the defensive side of the ball for the Cardinals, recording 14 total tackles, including three for a loss.

Josh Bailey, Tekonsha Indians football– Bailey was a big bright spot for Tekonsha’s 8-man football team, leading the defense with nine tackles, including two for a loss. Bailey also led the offense, rushing the ball 13 times for 94 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown run.

Kam Brackett, Bronson Viking football– Brackett had two of the best plays of the day for Bronson in the win over Quincy. On the opening play, Brackett threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to set up the scoring. In the second quarter, Brackett had the most playing time of the season for either team, returning an interception 101 yards for a touchdown. Brackett also added five tackles to help Bronson’s defensive efforts in the first half of the game only.

Noah Kelley, Quincy Oriole football– Kelley, just a freshman, was Quincy’s biggest weapon against Bronson last week. He threw the ball 17 times for 77 yards while also having two catches for 25 yards.

Noah Rufenacht, Quincy Oriole football– Rufenacht had a solid game against Bronson last week, recording four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown, a 36-yard pass.

Preston Pombier, Tekonsha Indians Football The Tekonsha quarterback finished the game 6-for-15 for 134 yards and two scores while also adding 23 carries for 58 yards.

Rick Austin, Union City Charger Football– Austin made a great play for the Union City offense, returning the ball about 82 yards for a touchdown. Austin also added three catches for 32 yards and four total tackles.
