There are problems downloading apps in the Apple app stores

Users on iPhone, iPad and Mac are having difficulty downloading new apps from Apple’s App Store. As soon as users tap the Get button, the downloading process begins but quickly stops and the button returns to Get without installing the desired app.

Issues affecting users worldwide

Reports of this issue are spreading on social media, with many users in both the US and Europe confirming the issue. They have been unable to install new apps for several hours. This issue was first noticed around 11 a.m. ET, according to the outage table on the App Store from DownDetector, which monitors online service issues in real time.

Existing apps can still be updated

Interestingly, although new app downloads cause problems, users can still update apps installed on their devices. The App Store isn’t completely down – just installing new apps is failing. Still, many users are frustrated, especially those who need to download essential apps for work or personal use.

No official update from Apple

At the time of writing, Apple’s status page still shows that all services, including the App Store, are working as usual, with no mention of ongoing issues. This lack of communication from Apple has left many users confused as they are unsure when the issue might be resolved.

Those affected will have to wait for further updates or for the problem to be fixed. Apple has not publicly acknowledged the issue, but given the growing number of affected users, a response is expected soon.
