Trump gets instant fact check after boasting about ‘impossible’ ability

Donald Trump boasted on Tuesday that a key to his success was his ability to captivate crowds for long periods of time.

But not everyone buys it.

Podcaster Lex Fridman asked the former president about the difference between success in business and success in politics.

“I have a lot of successful business people who would like to go into politics,” Trump said. “And then you realize they can’t speak. They’re suffocating.”

He said it was difficult to speak to the kind of audience he did.

“Let’s say you’re talking about a large audience, but I have a very large audience, and you know, for a lot of people it’s virtually impossible to stand up and speak for an hour and a half without someone leaving,” he said. “You know, it’s not an easy thing and it’s a skill.”

Trump speaks, as he said, for 90 minutes or more.

However, observers have noted both empty seats and early departures at Trump’s rallies as he continues to deliver his lengthy sidelines about sharks, Hannibal Lecter and windmills.
