After the trade, Adams detailed the past few weeks and expressed that he believes the deal will be better for both him and his former team.

“It’s definitely been a roller coaster ride,” he told reporters Wednesday. “It’s strange to say I’m happy, but obviously it was time for a change and the whole thing turned out kind of strange. But at the end of the day we’re in a better place, I think the Raiders are better too.

Adams also talked about how excited he is to play with star receiver Garrett Wilson, who he has discussed working with in the past.

“We talked a little over a year ago about how much we wished we could have played together,” Adams said. “I am a fan of his game and the feeling is also mutual. Here we are now, we have to make the most of it and take advantage of it.”

Adams’ third season with the Raiders got off to a rocky start, as he only had 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown in three games. He has not played in the last three games due to a hamstring injury.

Now in New York, he will play alongside Aaron Rodgers, who was his quarterback for the first eight seasons of his career while with the Green Bay Packers. The two had great success together before Adams left for Las Vegas after the 2020 season.

It’s clear that Adams needed a fresh start away from the Raiders, and now he has it in New York, where he believes he’s in a better place.

The Jets are starting the season 2-4 and most recently lost their game against the Buffalo Bills on Monday. Despite their early struggles, the Jets had a decent passing attack, averaging 217.2 yards per game, which ranks them 12th in the NFL and will only get better with Adams.

New York was also solid on defense, holding opponents to just 18 points per game, the seventh-best mark in the league. With more talent on offense, the Jets could be in for a turnaround.

While Adams believes the Raiders are better off without him, fans may disagree. Las Vegas enters Week 7 at 2-4 and doesn’t have much hope that things will improve.

Perhaps Adams’ impending trade request was a distraction, but the Raiders appear to be far from a playoff contender if Adams doesn’t catch passes.
