ReFantazio fans are not allowed to include spoilers in video thumbnails

Metaphor: ReFantazio has been out for almost a week now, but its status as a quintessential video game chronicler means not everyone has rolled the credits yet. Thankfully, Atlus is making it a little easier for players to use platforms like Twitch and YouTube to avoid having the game spoiled by a content creator who has no regard for others. Atlus made the announcement earlier today via the Japanese Twitter account for Metaphor: ReFantazio (Thanks to GamesRadar) for updating its video and streaming policies to ban players from uploading videos to online platforms that contain spoilers in the title or thumbnail.

Atlus notes that it has the ability to delete or block “videos or shows that we deem inappropriate.” So hopefully that’s enough of a warning for people to watch what they upload. Of course, this also sounds like something that will be very difficult to pull off, so it’s still worth being careful online if you want to play through Metaphor: ReFantazio and stay untouched for now.

Those who enjoy creating videos of Atlus games and streaming them know that the company can be very strict about online content, usually requiring people to restrict uploading videos of certain moments or beyond certain dates in the gaming calendars avoid. For example, Atlus blocked streamers from uploading Persona 5 Royal videos that included footage of the game after the in-game date of December 24th to prevent the spread of spoilers.

While there have been complaints about Atlus’ strictness with streaming in the past, this addendum to the existing rules for Metaphor: ReFantazio feels more than fair, especially since it hasn’t even been a week and people have already played the game They would be seen as real idiots by the majority of the fan base. Atlus will also likely abandon these terms at some point, as it has done with other games. All it asks is that streamers and content creators perhaps be a little more thoughtful before spreading spoilers on social media.
