Rumor busters about Brock Lesnar’s WWE return

Don’t expect to see Brock Lesnar back in the WWE anytime soon.

Back in January, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE. The lawsuit contains shocking allegations and graphic descriptions of sexual assault, emotional abuse and sex trafficking by McMahon and Laurinaitis. Vince McMahon resigned from all WWE and TKO duties on January 26, but continues to deny the allegations against him.

The lawsuit also mentions “a world-renowned athlete and former UFC heavyweight champion” with whom WWE was actively trying to sign a new contract. Although the person in question is not named in the lawsuit, the Wall Street Journal reports that person is Brock Lesnar. Lesnar’s planned return to the Royal Rumble was subsequently scrapped and WWE has taken steps to distance itself from the star, who has not returned since.

A May 30 update revealed that Grant had agreed to suspend the lawsuit at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice as Vince McMahon and WWE are currently under federal investigation. The news that the lawsuit was put on hold left some wondering whether The Beast Incarnate could return to the sports entertainment giant once again, but Dave Meltzer pointed out that any potential return of Brock Lesnar, despite Triple H, would have to be approved by the company’s legal department MUST confirmed in April that Lesnar was still part of the WWE.

On October 15, rumors circulated again that Lesnar was negotiating a comeback with WWE. Bill Apter and WrestleVotes both hinted at this in a recent Sportskeeda Backstage Pass Q&A session, but a new report from Fightful Select says just the opposite.

According to Fightful Select, high-ranking sources within the company denied that there were discussions about Lesnar returning, saying:

“There are no creative plans for Lesnar, and if discussions have taken place, we have not been informed.”

Brock Lesnar’s name cannot be mentioned on WWE television

The report further points to WWE’s efforts to distance itself from Brock Lesnar, such as removing him from WWE 2K24. According to the report, Lesnar’s name cannot be mentioned on WWE television. While Cody Rhodes sparked speculation when he referred to Lesnar by his nickname on a recent Raw, sources told Fightful Select that this was not an indication of a change in creative plans.

Fightful Select also reports that Lesnar hasn’t been brought up behind the scenes regarding creative plans in quite some time. One source said it had been months since the update, and another said it would be surprising if his name was mentioned while he is still connected to a federal investigation.
