Blue Devils open play at the ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill on Thursday

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Duke women’s tennis team will open play on Thursday in Chapel Hill as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals begin at the Chewning Tennis Center. The action takes place from October 17th to 21st with singles and doubles matches.

Blue Devil rookie Ava Krug starts on Thursday at 9 a.m. against Lisa Kranec from Elon in the qualifying round. Six more Duke student-athletes open qualifying play on Friday – Irina Balus, Shavit kimchi, Emma Jackson, Katie Codd, Ellie Coleman And Elena Yu.

Duke features five ranked singles players – Kimchi (38), Jackson (41), Codd (49), Coleman (53) and Yu (73). The Blue Devils doubles teams Jackson/Yu are ranked 58th and Kimchi/Coleman are ranked 61st. Balus was also ranked 10th in the newcomer singles book.
