Aim to play all matches in PKL 11, says Gujarat Giants’ Guman Singh: Exclusive

Gujarat signed Guman Singh for a whopping INR 1.97 crore in the PKL 11 auction.

With the start of PKL 11, Gujarat Giants under the leadership of coach Ram Mehar Singh are all set to give their fans a delightful show in 2024. After a decent PKL 10, the Gujarat team will be eyeing their first PKL title in Season 11. Right cover Neeraj Kumar has been named captain for the upcoming season along with mega raider Guman Singh as vice-captain.

Guman Singh is a new addition to the Gujarat Giants squad. The Giants added Singh to their team with a whopping offer of 1.97 crores and had faith in the speedy raider. Singh scored the highest raid points (163 points) for U Mumba in Season 10 and will look to surpass these statistics in Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League. Ahead of PKL 11, Guman took some time during his preparations to have an exclusive conversation with Khel Now he discussed his goals and the team’s goals and objectives.

Here you can find some excerpts from the interview.

The responsibility of the vice-captain

Guman Singh, who was appointed as the vice-captain of the team, expressed his opinion on the matter and how he intends to shoulder it. “The team had a lot of trust in me to give me the position of vice-captain. Therefore, it is my responsibility to move everyone forward together. I will try to share my experiences with my team,” said Guman Singh.

“I will try to take care of my juniors wherever they need me, be it in the game, I will help them when they make mistakes or when they have problems with accommodation or other problems. “I will try “To be there for them,” he added.

The feeling of getting a bid for 1.97 crores

The Gujarat side had already decided to bring Guman Singh into their ranks and that was understandable as they pushed for a whopping 1.97 crores for the raider. “I was thrilled when Gujarat Giants gave me such a high offer because it is the first time I have received such a high offer and I was the third player this season to receive such an offer,” Guman said.

“There is no such pressure. Our coach has already spoken to me about it and said that I shouldn’t put myself under pressure to make an expensive offer, but that I should play my natural game and concentrate on it and just do my best,” he added.

Guman said, “I feel very good because I have had a great bond with Coach ‘ and Neeraj since our time in the Patna camp. We know each other pretty well. Our trainer works on my weaknesses and improves them. He focused and helped me work on my fitness. He has improved my fitness enormously and now we are slowly working on my skills.”

Thoughts on the injury problem in season 10

Guman Singh spoke about his injury that severely dented U Mumba’s PKL 10 title hopes and revealed that he is now fully fit and full of energy. “It wasn’t a big injury or anything. I only had a sore knee, but now I’m fit and have no injury at all. My coach has worked hard on my fitness, so I am sure I will do great this season,” said Guman.

Goal for Season 11

Vice-captain Guman Singh is ready for PKL 11. Speaking about his target, Guman revealed that he is targeting over 200 points for the 11th edition of India’s premier Kabaddi league. “The goal is to play all the games, stay fit and whenever the team needs me, I can score points.
