Netflix has released the first images of Maria, a biblical drama centered on Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus Christ. Directed by CJ Caruso and written by Timothy Michael Hayes, the upcoming Netflix film explores Maria’s life from a personal and spiritual perspective. There have been several versions of “Mary Magdalene”, such as “Rooney Mara”, but also the new Netflix film offers a rare coming-of-age interpretation of one of history’s most revered figures. Rather than focusing solely on her role as Jesus’ mother, the film aims to explore Mary as a young woman facing extraordinary challenges. This approach offers the opportunity to connect viewers with their story on a personal level. She emphasizes her humanity, strength and resilience in the face of hardship.
