App Store wiggles prevent users from downloading apps

Apple’s App Store and Mac App Store are having problems on Wednesday, with users unable to download apps and problems with the digital sales platform, among other things.

A number of Mac and iPhone users found that they were unable to download apps from the App Store and Mac App Store. AppleInsider Editorial team members were able to confirm that the problem existed, but for some authors it was an intermittent problem.

It’s unclear how many people are affected by the outages, but some have posted on X about being unable to install apps. It doesn’t seem to prevent users from browsing the App Store, only from downloading new apps.

While it’s unclear whether Apple is aware of the issue, a review of the System Status page as well as the Developer System Status page shows that Apple has fixed many related issues.

The System Status page lists two current outages impacting the Subscription Purchase and Volume Purchase programs beginning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

The developer version contains a long list of fixed outages from late Tuesday evening. The list includes App Store Connect as well as TestFlight, the App Store Connect API, App Processing, App Store Server Notifications and Analytics.

There were also outages in Apple Podcasts Connect and Apple Music for Artists that were resolved overnight.

The status pages also mention a resolved issue with Xcode Cloud from Tuesday evening. There are also fixed issues for Apple Business Essentials, Apple Business Manager, and Apple School Manager.

AppleInsider We will continue to monitor the situation for further changes.
