One of the NCAAF’s breakout teams, the Texas Longhorns, features standout Gunnar Helm. The tight end discussed his team’s experiences playing in the SEC.

Without a doubt one of the breakout teams of this season NCAAF is that Texas Longhorns. Led by Quinn EwersHowever, the team remains undefeated, largely thanks to their impressive performances in every game. One of their standout players, tight end Gunnar Helmtalked about what it means for the team to play in the SEC every weekend.

One of the key players on Steve Sarkisian’s roster is undoubtedly the tight endwho developed close bonds with both Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning during his time on the field. When asked by the media what playing in the SEC means for the Longhorns, Helm answered directly.

“That’s just not the league we play in.” Helmet said. “I think we understood that before the start of this year. And I think (Chris Del Conte) understood that when we decided to attend this conference. We want to play the best. We want to play at the highest level and we get that every week in the SEC.

The Longhorns picked up two significant victories in their first two SEC games. The first game was against Mississippi State and won 35-13. Last weekend, Ewers and Co. dominated Oklahoma by a score of 34-3.

“Every week you can’t focus on what’s in front of you or what’s behind you. You have to be where you are and really focus on the game plan every week. Gunnar Helm finally explained.

The Longhorns and a big loss

The Longhorns’ strong performance this season was overshadowed in their matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners, as, over the weekend Safety Derek Williams Jr. will undergo surgery after suffering a season-ending injury.

“He will have a great career. His work is not done this year. He was one of the first in the building this morning. And man, how amazing is that? That shows exactly his character. And so he’ll still be there, he’ll be coach Williams and he’ll play an important role on this team, but our prayers go out to him. I am so sad to hear this news. He’s one of them. He’s really my brother and definitely plays for him.” Security said Michael Taaffe.
