Junghans Microtec supplies time fuses for German artillery shells

The German defense procurement agency has signed a framework contract with Junghans Microtec for the procurement of 180,000 time fuses for 155 mm artillery shells.

The ten-year production and delivery contract covers the DM52 electronic time artillery fuse for flare, smoke and sensor ammunition.

The procurement is financed from a special fund of the German Bundestag; an additional procurement of 90,000 fuses is optionally possible. Hard point wroteciting the procurement statement.

A pilot batch of fuses will be selected this year and delivery is expected to begin within the next two years.

The procurement covers the current and future needs of the Bundeswehr.

DM52 fuse

According to the German manufacturer, this is Backup Can be used with 155mm and 105mm artillery as well as 120mm rifle mortars.

It is fully compatible with the flick-ram system of modern 39 and 52 caliber howitzers and has a time range of 2 to 199.9 seconds in 0.1 second increments.

The German military plans to use the detonator for the self-propelled howitzer 2000 in operations, exercises and training.

It is characterized by increased safety during storage, transport and operational use and has a shelf life of 15 years.
