Breezy winds and particularly dry air moving in behind a cold front are raising fire weather concerns Wednesday. As you enjoy the cooler temperatures today, avoid fire-related activities.


Today and tonight: Increased winds from the northeast between 15 and 20 mph will help usher a very cool air mass into southern Louisiana on Wednesday. Temperatures will fall in the early hours of the morning, causing the capital to hit a low of almost 53C before sunrise. Communities near the state line could even see temperatures dip into the upper 40s early Wednesday. With bright sunshine, temperatures will struggle to warm up again this afternoon. Highs will be in the low 70s and light jackets will likely be needed for most of the day.

The Tropics: A low pressure area over the central tropical Atlantic remains disorganized. Tits system will move westward in the coming days. In this case, environmental conditions will be slightly more favorable for tropical development by mid to late this week. As the system moves toward the Leeward Islands later this week, a tropical depression could form.
