After beginning his college career at Montana State University, Oobor took his talents to Utah State University before transferring to Washington for the upcoming season. He was one of the biggest names in the portal coming off the Mountain West Player of the Year campaign.

Oobor is a strong, beefy power forward – with the ability to play an undersized center – who uses his length and weight well. He’s not the biggest compared to some of the other players he competes against, but he easily combats this with his other physical tools and the ability to use his frame as leverage. His rebounding performance makes him a double-double machine and a premier passer for his size and position. Oobor can read the game well and the offense can penetrate him to some extent with his connectivity advantage. He moves well around the field and can be involved in offense anywhere on the field, not just on the field. But when caught near the edge, Oobor is able to use his physical tools and cunning to dominate.

He also draws a significant number of fouls, which is a great skill that translates to the NBA level. Additionally, despite his physical style of play, Oobor has a soft touch at the rim. With that in mind, Oobor is capable of catching and reading from the perimeter, but he’s not yet a 3-point threat. He’s also not a great free throw shooter, so finding his jumper will be the next big step for him.

Oobor is extremely disruptive defensively and produces a high number of steals and blocks. With his length, strength and speed, he is best suited to protecting frontcourt players. He can get out and situationally defend some wingers in space, but isn’t quick enough to defend guards off the rim. Oobor moves very well for his size and is best known for his ability to be a playmaker on that end of the pitch.

Oobor is of Nigerian descent but lived in Spain early in his life before moving to England as a teenager and taking up basketball. He reportedly signed a huge NIL contract that brought him to Washington, which was well-deserved as he continued to prove himself and rise in the collegiate ranks each time he attended a new school. He was able to show that he can do it against higher level competition, with the next stop being the NBA.

Possible second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
