“Longlegs director’s new Stephen King film gets first trailer”

A new Stephen King adaptation is coming to theaters early next year. Neon has released the first teaser trailer for The monkeythe latest film from Long legs Writer/director Osgood Perkins.

“For a long time there was nothing. But then it appeared. A beast that is not of this earth. It beats those who deserve it, those who don’t deserve it, and everyone in between. Whoever controls it controls life and death. “And those deaths really suck,” the trailer’s narration goeswhile close-ups of the vintage toy monkey are shown, inserted between shots of various gruesome accidents. What is “The Ape” about?

“When twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths begins. The siblings decide to throw away the toy and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years,” the logline reads The monkey reads. However, when the unexplained deaths begin to surface again, the brothers are forced to reconcile and embark on a mission to eliminate the cursed toy once and for all. Theo James (The White Lotus) directs the cast of The monkey as Bill and Hal, with sweet toothChristian Convery portrays the characters’ younger selves.

The cast also includes Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Lawyer), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), Colin O’Brien (Dear Edward), Rohan Campbell (Halloween ends), Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and Perkins. Wood recently announced a sneak peek at the upcoming Stephen King adaptation in September, saying the supernatural horror film was “unlike anything else.” [Perkins has] made. It’s a really bloody comedy, and that’s not what he’s known for. “He wrote something really funny,” the actor continued The monkey filmmaker, calling him “an extraordinary master of atmosphere, an incredible filmmaker and a great author. Neon will release another Stephen King film in 2025

The monkey won’t be the only Stephen King adaptation that Neon will distribute next year. The studio is also headed by Tom Hiddleston The Life of Chuckwhich it acquired in September. The drama film focuses on the life of Charles Krantz, whose story is told backwards in three separate parts, starting from his death through his early childhood. The Life of Chuck was written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who previously helmed the Stephen King adaptations Gerald’s game And Doctor Sleep. The filmmaker is also in early development on a series adaptation of “King’s.” The Dark Tower Series.

Other King adaptations currently in development in Hollywood include a feature-length adaptation of King’s dystopian horror novel The long walk in Lionsgate and Edgar Wright’s film adaptation of The running man at Paramount, with the latter expected to begin filming in November, with Glen Powell and Katy O’Brian at the top of the cast list.

The monkey will be in theaters on February 21, 2025.
