Fargo activist Faith Dixon was arrested on a warrant for embezzlement

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Faith Dixon, known to many in the community as an activist committed to Black Lives Matter and other social justice issues, has been arrested and is being held in the Cass County Jail in Fargo.

According to prosecutors, Dixon demanded more than $1.5 million and received $350,000 for her nonprofit organization, Faith4Hope.

The grant money should be used to establish free, comprehensive after-school programs and other nonprofit organizations. Companies included Be the Light Dance Studio, Revolution Records, P’s & Q’s Etiquette and Double Barrel BBQ. Faith’s father was registered with Double Barrel BBQ, the others were registered with her brother and a sister-in-law.

According to Bell Bank records, money from the grant was deposited to Double Barrel BBQ in March 2022. But then cash was withdrawn from the account by Charles Dixon, Faith’s husband.

In more than one case in 2022, withdrawals or deposits were made from Dixon accounts. The DPI requested a transaction record but was only able to account for about $137,000 of the $350,000 total.

Dixon is charged with five counts of theft of property. Four of the charges carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, and the remaining count carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison.

The lights were off and the office appeared deserted.

We reached out to Faith and she declined to comment. Faith4Hope board members have not yet responded.

The case is being prosecuted by the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Drew Wrigley declined to comment.
