Arrest in weekend wildfire in Boulder Creek

Fast recording

Cal Fire said an arrest has been made in a wildfire that burned a mobile home and a quarter of an acre near Boulder Creek on Saturday.

Cal Fire officials made an arrest Saturday in the case of a small vegetation fire near Boulder Creek that they believe was caused by an illegal burn barrel.

An unnamed female property owner in the area of Hartman Creek Road northeast of Boulder Creek was arrested on charges of recklessly setting an unlawful fire, the agency announced in a news release. Cal Fire said it previously warned the property owner after previous fires were reported at the same address.

The fire, which was first reported last Saturday afternoon, destroyed a mobile home and about a quarter of an acre of vegetation. Firefighters from Cal Fire and the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District responded to the scene. They said the fire started from a fire barrel that had no clearance around it and had trash and other debris piled up outside.
