Cold reception for new Ryzen CPU after “Factory Tour” leak – Channel news

Leaks about AMD’s new Ryzen processor during a supposed factory tour have left tech fans scratching their heads over whether an upgrade would be worth it.

Ryzen is expected to announce the 9000X3D series on October 25th, with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D following a few weeks later.

According to multiple reports, an MSI presentation was leaked after someone took a tour of an MSI factory and it contained information about the new line of processors.

China-based MSI manufactures laptops, graphics cards, monitors, motherboards, desktops, peripherals, servers, IPCs, robotic devices, vehicle infotainment and telematics systems, and an electric vehicle charger.

“Many gamers are anticipating the 9000X3D lineup, especially because the non-3D Zen 5 failed to impress in gaming scenarios,” says Engadget.

“However, according to a new leak…we may not see much of a change in the transition from the 7000X3D to the 9000X3D.”

Black Myth: Wukong.

According to the leak, MSI compared the 9000X3D series with its non-3D counterparts as well as the previous generation of CPUs.

“The gaming tests only included three titles, which isn’t a lot, but the eight-core Ryzen 9000X3D (presumably the Ryzen 7 9800X3D) was somewhere between 2% and 13% faster in those titles,” says Engadget.

Far Cry 6 showed the largest increase (13% increase), but in Black Myth: Wukongthe CPU [had] a meager 2% improvement. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D saw even smaller increases of 2% to 11%.”

People on Reddit were generally skeptical.

“The best part is that the 7800X3D is cheaper, so you get 90% of the performance for 50% of the price. Then you can just wait and do a slot upgrade,” one user wrote.

“I understand that 7800x3d will last another cycle,” wrote another. “All right, AMD!”

But one noted that if the numbers are correct, “that’s a significant jump in GHz over 5700x3D and more frequency than 5700x.” If they keep all the cores high AND the RAM can go 1:1 over 6400, that would be a tempting upgrade .”
