Cross Country travels to the conference meet in Centerville

The South Central Conference Cross Country Meet is in Centerville today and the Knoxville boys are looking to crash the party. Chariton is the clear favorite to win the conference title, but the Panthers are confident they can at least put pressure on the Chargers without them running away. Boys coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they need to break up the Chariton pack, and if they do that, the Panthers would be in a great position.

Michael: “If we can get in there and break up their pack and if something special comes our way, we can win the conference title, but Chariuton is a really good team. I really want to give them confidence that if we can do something special, we can take that into the state qualifier and maybe do something special there too.”

The girls have had a difficult time putting together a full team this season due to injuries and illness, but coach Mikayla Splavec believes they will get healthy at the right time. She wants her team to compete and finish as high as possible.

Mikayla: “With our small team we can definitely compete with some of the teams in our conference. I want them to focus on not only improving their times, but also competing as best as they can.”

The meeting is scheduled for the Appanoose Country Club in Centerville.

Volleyball finals of the conference game in the Chariton

The Knoxville Volleyball Squad rounds out the South Central Conference schedule with a trip to Chariton. The Panthers can secure second place with a win over the Chargers, who are 11-11 and 2-4 in the conference. Knoxville is coming off a 2-3 day at the Pella Invitational, highlighted by a win over Class 1A #2 Holy Trinity, who the Panthers will meet this Saturday at the Knoxville Invitational. First serve tonight in Chariton is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
