Visit great museums and galleries during ArtNight Pasadena – NBC Los Angeles

What you should know

  • ArtNight Pasadena
  • Friday, October 18th
  • 6 p.m. to 10 p.m
  • Free entry to several local galleries and museums; Free shuttles also take visitors around Old Town Pasadena (be sure to check routes before you go).
  • Participating venues include the Jackie Robinson Community Center, The Gamble House and the Armory Center for the Arts

Fall + Friday + fabulous fun can be pretty easy to achieve depending on where you choose for a happy stay in Southern California.

But adding that oh-so-nice final F – that would be “free” of course – can be a little trickier.

It would be nice to just enjoy some beauty during this busy time of year while contemplating big ideas, the kind of interesting notions that can be found in the field of art, and save a lot of money in the process.

The City of Pasadena’s Department of Cultural Affairs brings us to the heart of where we come from, as do several other joyful, complex and fascinating arts destinations around the Crown City.

These places, along with Cultural Affairs, will happily come together for another popular ArtNight Pasadena, the free gallery/museum super-crawl that returns with delightful clockwork every spring and fall.

The fall commitment begins October 18 and several locations will participate in the four-hour celebration.

The Jackie Robinson Community Center, The Gamble House and the Armory Center for the Arts are all participating in the upcoming event, as are other galleries, museums and the Pasadena City Hall, which will feature “music and seasonal arts activities.”

No registration is required. Simply land at the participating location you want to experience first.

Of course, it’s advisable to plan your evening, because even though four hours is a good amount of time, you may find yourself lingering in the first or second gallery you pass. Then ticktock: ArtNight is over.

Food trucks also make delightful appearances around town: Kogi BBQ stops at the Pasadena Museum of History, while Dina’s Dumplings stops by City Hall.

And of course, many of the restaurants in Old Pasadena and beyond will be open and busy during the evening experience.

Where to go? What to do? And how exactly does an “ArtNight” work? This helpful site enthusiastically offers answers of the most edifying kind.
