James McFadden is traveling to Australia and will not race full-time in 2025

James McFadden heads home. The fan-favorite sprint car driver from Australia announced Sunday evening that he will no longer be racing full-time in the United States in 2025.

McFadden made the announcement during the Kubota High Limit Racing Championship Awards Banquet, a night where he celebrated a fourth-place finish in the championship standings.

“It’s not 100 percent public knowledge, but I won’t be coming back full-time next year,” McFadden said. “I’m going home. We have much more important things to do in life. I had an incredible time.”

McFadden has spent the last three seasons driving the No. 83 for Roth Motorsports. He competed full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2022 and 2023, collecting seven wins before switching to High Limit Racing for the inaugural national tour in 2024.

McFadden recorded three wins, 17 top-five finishes and 33 top-10 finishes in the 2024 season, a year he called “the most fun year he’s ever had on the road.”

“Man, three years at Roth Motorsports. Who would have thought? I’m pretty happy with it.”

“It’s certainly not the end,” McFaddden explained. “I’ll come here and probably send Brad (Sweet) a couple times to make sure it’s good,” McFadden joked. “Like I said, I think High Limit was the best part of my career so far. The vision and the things that are going on in Australia, I hope to be a big part of that in the future.”

Of course, McFadden was referring to High Limit Racing International’s first event, scheduled to take place December 28-30 at the Perth Motorplex in his home country of Australia. He plans to compete against high-limit racing stars like Brad Sweet and Kyle Larson at the event.

McFadden’s plans beyond this race are unknown; However, it is clear that his family, including his son Maverick, will come first. It’s the same thing that has made McFadden feel at home while traveling the country with High Limit Racing this season.

“There’s nothing better than seeing everyone fist pump Maverick and just giving him the time of day. It was everything.”
