Trump calls on Harris to take cognitive test as candidates head to Pennsylvania in Election Day sprint: Live updates

Donald Trump tells Fox he will call in troops against US citizens

Donald Trump has challenged his election rival Kamala Harris to a cognitive test as both travel to the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania on Monday as the race for the White House enters its final stages.

The call came in response to Harris releasing her latest medical report over the weekend, challenging the Republican whose health remains under scrutiny, not least because of his penchant for long, rambling and occasionally incoherent speeches.

Trump caused further drama over the weekend when California police arrested a gunman at his Coachella rally and suspected he was planning a third assassination attempt on the candidate.

But the suspect, Las Vegas native Vem Miller, 49, claimed to be a Trump supporter and an “artist” and denied any wrongdoing or intent to cause harm.

Elsewhere, the former president claimed that America faces a major threat from what he called the “enemy from within,” whom he described as “sick people, radical left-wing lunatics.”

Trump told Fox host Maria Bartiromo that these people – U.S. citizens – should be handled “easily by the National Guard if necessary or, if really necessary, by the military.”

Harris and Trump both visit Pennsylvania on Monday

The two White House candidates face off Monday against the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, which Joe Biden narrowly won four years ago and which promises to serve as kingmaker again this time.

Harris unveils a list of new policies aimed at winning black male votes

The vice president has announced a plan to give black men more economic opportunities and other opportunities to thrive as she works to bolster a key voting bloc that Democrats fear lacks enthusiasm for her candidacy.

Harris’ “Black Male Opportunity Agenda” includes providing forgivable business loans to Black entrepreneurs, creating more apprenticeships and studying sickle cell anemia and other diseases that disproportionately affect African-American men.

The Democrat has already said she supports marijuana legalization, and her plan includes working to ensure black men have the opportunity to participate as “a national cannabis industry takes shape.”

She also calls for better regulation of cryptocurrency to protect Black men and others who invest in digital assets.

The vice president’s plan is intended to empower African-American men at a time when there are fears that some might sit out the election rather than vote for Harris or her opponent Donald Trump – an issue that Barack Obama sought to tackle head-on in Pennsylvania last week.
