NORTH TEXAS – Fall weather is finally upon us for North Texas this week.

A weak cold front will move through the region Sunday evening, followed by a strong cold front late Tuesday. Nighttime temperatures should be comfortably around 60° and you will notice the first wave of drier air.

A stronger front with colder air will move into North Texas Tuesday evening, bringing fall-like weather.

When you wake up on Wednesday morning, some spots might feel like the low 40s. This means leaving the windows open, lighting the fireplace, and pulling a blanket half over and half off while you sleep.

Now for our next big change. The major models (Euro, GFS, Canadian) are all becoming more trough-shaped and deeper over the lower 48. This just means that “dips” in the jet stream are trending further south. The only problem is the consistency.

The timing continues to fluctuate and the depth of the depression is also a variable. Currently, a pattern change is likely over the next 10 to 14 days, but the timing and resulting chance of rain are difficult to determine.

The Euro has now slowed due to the hollowing out over the plains and the resulting chances of rain. There’s still a chance for next week, but we’ll see where things go this week.
