Gardening is the travel trend for 2025

Gardening is the travel trend for 2025

From train bragging to cool-cationing to bootiquing, the travel trends that have emerged over the past few years have given us plenty of inspiration for our upcoming vacations. But as our pace of life becomes more hectic and the world becomes increasingly focused on technology and innovation, more and more tourists seem to be turning to nature for the ultimate break from everyday life.

Travel app Skyscanner surveyed thousands of UK users to predict key travel trends for the coming year and the study found plant-based tourism is on the rise. You heard it here for the first time: 2025 is officially the year of “garden culture”.

What is garden culture?

Gardening means putting gardening and getting back to nature at the forefront of your travel plans – and you’ve probably been doing that for years.

Have you ever dedicated an entire vacation to visiting a famous garden? Are you planning a spring trip to see the blooming flowers? Have you been looking for a stay somewhere completely off the grid to truly feel at one with nature? If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you can now officially call yourself a horticulturist.

And you are not alone. It’s no secret that nature can provide the perfect respite from an ever-evolving technological world because of its calming, grounding influence and immense beauty. Skyscanner reports that 62% of British travelers enjoy visiting gardens on holiday, while 46% say gardening is high on their list of leisure activities – and cherry blossom season, autumnal colors and blooming sunflower fields top the list of floral phenomena see in Year 2025. So it’s no wonder that this travel trend is literally flourishing right now.
