Youth soccer programs are gathering in Elizabethton to raise money for victims of Hurricane Helene

Area youth football programs gathered at Unaka High School in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on Friday to help the Helene victims.

Children living in areas affected by Helene had to get back to work after recent flooding damaged local fields and equipment.

All proceeds from Friday’s event will benefit relief efforts in Hampton, where the high school and football stadium were heavily damaged.

Their high school is in pretty bad shape, a lot of their equipment is broken, just for what they want to use it for. “Coach Lunsford’s team will never stop playing hard, but we thought it would be a good idea…A lot of what they lost we could help gain back,” Elizabethton Grasscutters coach Rusty Chambers said .

The Unaka High School coaching staff also designed a special 50-yard line logo in solidarity with those affected by Helene.

Once it’s finished, they plan to use it for the rest of the season.
