Men’s and women’s swimming teams open at the King Invitational

KINGSPORT, TN – The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s and women’s swimming teams officially opened their seasons Saturday by competing in the King Invitational, hosted by King University. This was the first meeting under new head coach Sean Weddell.

On the men’s side, the Bears placed fifth with a total of 298 points. The women took sixth place with Mars Hill with 235 points.

Freshmen Greg Kisshauer impressed at his first collegiate meet, earning three top-five finishes. He placed third in the 400-yard IM, third in the 200-yard butterfly and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke. He also competed in the men’s 200-yard medley relay, which placed fifth. Emma leaves And Ella Penny She also finished in the top five, with Sheets placing fifth in the 400-yard IM and Penny placing fifth in the 200-yard freestyle. Both were part of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed fifth.

The Bears will be home for the first time this season next Saturday when they host Mars Hill at Shuford Pool. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m
