Friday the 13th is one of the most enduring horror franchises in history.

The franchise centers on Jason Voorhees, a boy who was believed to have drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to negligent camp counselors and who has seemingly been brought back to life to seek revenge.

Since its launch in 1980, the series has spawned over a dozen films, novels and comics, and the hockey-masked killer is now one of the most iconic villains in horror history.

Unfortunately, the franchise has been going through legal hell recently due to ownership disputes, meaning there hasn’t been a new entry in the film saga since the 2009 reboot. However, there are signs that new projects are in the works, including a prequel TV series.
