Hezbollah can be destroyed – by following the money

Several Lebanese banks serve as important instruments for financing the organization’s activities and are a crucial link in its revenue chain. Strict international economic sanctions must be imposed on banks and financial institutions that support Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has managed to establish itself as a military and economic force in Lebanon, while the Lebanese army remains a weak “barefoot army”, especially in terms of financing. While a Hezbollah fighter earns about $1,500 a month, a Lebanese army soldier earns just $300.

These salaries largely come from the drug trade, and restricting funding options would harm Hezbollah fighters’ motivation. Cutting Hezbollah’s funding source could also weaken its status in the Shiite community, limit its ability to recruit fighters and cut funding for treating the wounded.
