New Delhi: A 60-year-old man who played the role of demon king Ravana’s brother Kumbhakarna died after complaining of chest pain. He was taken to several hospitals before the man died. The incident took place around 11 pm on Friday in south Delhi’s Chirag Dilli area during a Ramlila event. Police said it caused panic among spectators. Police suspect that the deceased died of a heart attack. Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to examine the matter from all possible angles.

Vikram Taneja, a resident of Paschim Vihar, stood on the stage wearing the outfit of Kumbhakarna at Savitri Nagar Ramlila in Malviya Nagar. During his act, Taneja complained of chest pain. His colleagues then took him to Akash Hospital from where he was referred to PSRI Hospital.

Police said Taneja allegedly died of a heart attack during treatment on Saturday. Further investigations are underway to find out the cause of Taneja’s death. The police spoke to the family of the deceased and recorded their statements. The family confirmed that there was no foul play, suggesting a natural death.

Man playing Rama’s role dies

Last week, a man died after suffering a heart attack on stage while playing the role of Lord Rama in a Ramleela at Vishwakarma Nagar in Delhi’s Shahdara, police officials familiar with the matter told Times Now. The 45-year-old man was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Late Sushil Kaushik was a real estate dealer by profession. A video also went viral on social media platforms and showed Kaushik going backstage after feeling unwell.
